Getting started

Does Hyzeer cost anything?

Everything in the app is free: keeping score, courses, your discs and printing your own labels. Ready-made label packs may be sold later.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. On an iPhone, open app.hyzeer.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It works like an app, also without signal. Safari deletes the data of a web app that isn't opened for 7 days, so open Hyzeer at least once a week if you have scores that haven't synced.

Do my friends need the app?

No. Add them as guests and enter their scores on your phone (Guests). Friends who want to score on their own phone need an account and join with the invite code.

Why is there no password?

You log in with a link or a 6-digit code sent to your email, so there is no password to forget or leak. You stay logged in for as long as you use the app at least every 180 days.

The log-in email doesn't arrive.

Wait a minute and check your spam folder. Check the address you typed (Wrong email? Start again). Then tap Send a new email. Codes work for 15 minutes.

The link in the email opens the browser, not the app.

Type the 6-digit code from the email into the app instead.

Can I change my username?

No, it's in your profile link and in shared links. You can change your display name, which is what other players see, in Me → Profile settings.

Playing

There is no signal on the course. Can I still play?

Yes. Open the course once with signal (it's then saved on your phone), and join your friends' game before you lose signal. Scoring, guests and finishing work without signal; everything is sent when you're back online. See Playing without signal.

How do I know my scores are saved?

The line at the top of the scoring screen says Synced when the server has everything, or Offline — saved on this phone. Scores saved on the phone are safe, also when you close the app. Don't log out while scores aren't synced: logging out deletes them from the phone, and the app warns you first.

I entered a wrong score.

Go to the hole (tap Hole N of M at the top) and tap the right number. Scores can be changed until the game finishes, also after you finished your scorecard.

My friend can't join with the code.

Joining needs a connection on their phone. Check the code: six letters and numbers, without 0, O, 1, I or L. A game that finished can't be joined, and a player the organiser removed can't join again.

We forgot to finish the game.

The organiser can finish it any time from the game page. A private game that nobody scores in for 7 days finishes by itself. Public games finish at their end time.

What is the difference between Stroke, Match and Skins?

Stroke: lowest total wins. Match: each hole is won by the lowest score, and most holes won wins. Skins: each hole is worth a skin, a tie carries it to the next hole, and most skins wins. See Game types.

How do we run a weekly club challenge?

Create a public game with a start and an end time, for example Monday morning to Sunday night, and tap Schedule. Post the invite code in your club's chat; players nearby also find it under Games → Public. Everyone plays when they have time, and the game finishes by itself. Choose Hidden until end if nobody should see the others' scores before the end.

Who can see my scores?

Everyone in the game sees everyone's names and scores (in a game with scores hidden until the end, only after it finishes). Anyone with the game's link sees the results too, but you can appear as "Player N" with Show my name to people outside this game turned off. Your finished games are on your profile only if your profile is public. See Sharing, public games and profiles.

Does Hyzeer track where I am?

No. Hyzeer uses your location only when you ask for it: courses near you, the closest course on the home screen, "Use my location" when you add a course or a position, and throws in advanced scoring. A finder chooses whether to share where they found your disc.

Can I see distances in feet?

Yes: Me → Profile settings → Distances.

Courses

My course isn't in Hyzeer.

Create it: Courses → Create a course takes a minute (Create a course). Or play it without a course: New game → Play without a course.

The par of a hole is wrong, or there is a new tee.

Fix it yourself: in the course's ⋯ menu, tap Edit holes and layouts, make the change and publish it (Edit a course). Games already created keep their holes.

The same course is in Hyzeer twice.

Open one of them and, in its ⋯ menu, tap Report a problem, saying it's a duplicate. The Hyzeer team checks it and marks one of them as a duplicate.

Discs and labels

Where do I get labels?

Print them yourself: Discs → ⋯ → Print labels. Use waterproof sticker paper and a clear protective cover, and print at 100% scale. See Lost discs.

Does the finder need the app?

No. They scan the label with the normal phone camera and a page opens in their language. They don't need an account.

Will the finder see my name, email or phone number?

No. The finder sees nothing about you or the disc, and you don't see who they are. Their message comes to you by email and in the app.

I sold a disc that has a label.

Open the disc and deactivate its label, or retire the disc and deactivate the label with it. Whoever scans it then sees that the label is no longer active.

Account and data

How do I download or delete my data?

Me → Download my data saves a file with everything Hyzeer keeps about you. Me → Delete account deletes your account after you confirm it with a link sent by email. See Account and privacy.

Can I use Hyzeer in Slovenian?

Yes: Me → Profile settings → Language. Before you log in, the app uses your phone's language.

How do I report a bug or send an idea?

Write on Discord or to the support email: Me → Help and support. Tell us the app version shown there, the phone you use, and what you did before it went wrong.
