Games and scoring
Start a game
Tap New game on the home screen or on the Games tab.
- Where are you playing? Choose a course from Recent courses, or search for it. On a course page, Play skips this step. For a course that isn't in Hyzeer, tap Play without a course and set the number of holes and their par.
- Everything has a default. Change only what you need:
- Holes: the course's main layout is chosen. Choose another layout, or tap Change holes to remove, replace, reorder or add holes. A game has 1 to 50 holes, and a hole can be played more than once, e.g. 9 holes twice.
- Game type: Stroke, Match or Skins (see below).
- Who can join: Private (only with the invite code; you start and finish it yourself; guests allowed) or Public (anyone can join; it has a start and an end time; no guests). This can't be changed later.
- Scores: Visible (everyone sees live results) or Hidden until end (everyone, you too, sees only their own scores until the game finishes).
- I'm not playing, I only organise this game, e.g. for a club challenge.
Tap Create game. The game is a Draft: only you can see it.
- Private game: tap Start game. The game gets its invite code and you can score right away.
- Public game: set when it starts and ends (at most one month), then tap Schedule. Players can join at once; scoring opens at the start time. The game starts and finishes by itself. Cancel schedule turns it back into a Draft.
A course that changed after you created the game: the app asks whether to continue with the version you chose. To play the newest version, delete the game and create a new one.
Game types
- Stroke: total throws for all holes. Lowest total wins.
- Match: each hole is won by the single lowest score; a shared lowest score is a tie. Most holes won wins. With many players most holes are tied, so it is best for two to four.
- Skins: each hole is worth 1 skin. A tie carries the skin to the next hole. Most skins wins.
Invite friends
The game page shows the invite code, six letters and numbers. Everyone in the game can share it.
- Share sends a message with the code and a link. Show big shows the code across the screen, so friends can type it from your phone.
- Friends tap Join game and type the code, or open the link. They need a Hyzeer account and a connection.
Guests
A guest is a friend without the app. In a private game, tap Add guest on the game page and type a name; recent guests are offered as you type. You enter the guest's scores on your phone. To rename or remove a guest, tap ⋯ next to their name.
Score
On the game page, tap Start scoring.
- One tap per hole and player. Tap the number of throws; the numbers around par are shown. For other scores use − and +. Tap another number to change a score.
- Each row shows the total and +/- par, e.g. 17 (−1) after 6.
- Go to the next hole with the button at the bottom, or tap Hole N of M at the top to jump to any hole.
- ⋯ next to a player: clear the score of this hole, or finish their scorecard.
- Players on my screen (in the ⋯ menu at the top): show other players of the game, e.g. your group, to follow their scores while you play. Their scores are entered on their own phones.
- Skins and match games show what the hole is worth and who is winning it.
Scores are saved at once, also without signal. See Playing without signal.
Advanced scoring with GPS
Tap Advanced scoring with GPS to record every throw with its position and disc.
- On the tee, tap Start hole here. If the course knows where the tee is, the hole starts there by itself.
- Choose the Disc you throw. Your bag is listed first.
- Walk to your disc and tap Mark throw. The distance appears.
- Add a Penalty if you had one, then In the basket. The score is the number of throws.
The GPS line shows how exact your position is; a weak GPS can put throws off by a few metres. Your throws are on the game's map, and everyone in the game can see them, unless you turn off Show my throws and discs to others in your profile settings. A score entered with one tap can be replaced by marking throws.
Finish
- Finish your scorecard when you are done: tap Finish on the last hole. The app names the holes without a score. You can still change scores until the game finishes.
- Finish game (organiser, private games): on the game page. If some scorecards aren't finished, the app warns you, because their scores may not have reached the server yet. After the game finishes nobody can enter or change scores.
- Public games finish by themselves at their end time.
- Private games that nobody scores in for 7 days finish by themselves.
A scorecard with holes missing at the end is Incomplete and has no rank. Scores that reach the server after the game finished are kept in your round as Not counted.
Results and the scorecard
The game page shows the results, live while the game is played: rank, total and +/- par, or holes and skins won. Match and skins games have ranks only when they finish. Scorecard shows every hole of every player; scroll sideways. In advanced scoring, Show throws lists a player's throws.
Players and the organiser
- Leave game (in the ⋯ menu): your scores stay in your own game. If the game is still being played, you can come back with Join with my round and keep your scores.
- The organiser can Remove a player. Their scores continue in their own game, and they can't join this game again.
- The organiser can stop playing with I'm not playing, and play again with I'll play after all.
- Edit game (organiser, in the ⋯ menu): the name and description can be changed until the game finishes; the holes, the type and the times only while it is a Draft.
- Delete game deletes it for everyone. Your scores in it are deleted too.
My games and history
The Games tab has three lists:
- Mine: games you're playing, scheduled games and drafts.
- History: finished games by month, with your result and rank. Search by game, course or player, filter by course or type. Hide from my history (in a game's ⋯ menu) hides a game only for you; Show only hidden games finds it again. The history you opened is saved on the phone for offline use.
- Public: games anyone can join. See Sharing, public games and profiles.
Your best scores are on the course page, per layout and per hole. Only complete scorecards with exactly the same holes in the same order are compared, from every game type. Games without a course, Not counted scores and rounds removed from a game don't count.
